                   *** [[[ WORLD ATLAS IN LIST FORM ]]] ***

This is for Social Studies and Geography teachers.
You may not actually teach from the site, but
you'll probably want your students to bookmark it
and keep it handy.

"The List" is a world atlas in the form of
clickable lists. The main page lists the
deepest oceans, largest islands, areas of
continents, largest and smallest countries, etc.
Many of those list items are active: click on
a continent, and you get a clickable list of
its countries with their main statistics.

"The List" is produced by an American company,
Graphic Maps Inc. This site's advertising is
more intrusive than we normally allow in a Network
Nugget. On the plus side, Graphic Maps uses the Web
to publish a useful resource that is otherwise
impossible to create.

Where does a map company like Graphic maps go
to ensure the accuracy of its geographic data?

"Certain facts and statistics within worldatlas.com
provided by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
and the US State Department."

That's a good excuse to re-introduce the CIA World
Fact Book at:

It has more traditional layout, more detail, accurate
content and no advertising.
