*** [[[ OUT OF THIS WORLD ]]] ***
Today, we have three Websites on the universe
and astronomy for different grade levels.
An Atlas of the Universe
Here's a site that junior secondary teachers
may find useful. The Website consists of nine
main maps of the universe, ranging from the
nearest stars to the sun, out to the limits of
the visible universe.
Each main map page contains a description of the
map, as well as other related maps and information.
There are extensive annotated links to related
Websites and a glossary. You can also zoom in and out
on each map.
An Atlas of the Universe is also available in
other languages, including french.
Thanks to John Goldsmith for contributing
this nugget.
The Universe Simplified
This Website tells the story of the universe
from the big bang to black holes - in a simple
and understandable way, complete with graphics.
As you work your way through the story, there are
also links to definitions of various terms.
Students from the intermediate level onward will
understand the information on this Website.
Thanks to the BC Ministry of Education, as we
found this site on their listserv.
Good Astronomy Activities on the Web
astroacts.html
This section of the Astronomical Society of the
Pacific contains links to a variety of activities
on the web organized into 19 sections such as
Galaxies to Stars and Stellar Evolution. For each
of the activities, there is a summary and a
suggested grade level.
Enjoy your trip through the universe.
